The evenly contested match between Scotland and Spain seems to have created a big problem for Liverpool football club whose fans and manager watched as Andrew Robertson trudge out of the pitch with his arm cradle in shirt after a horrific challenge with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon.
The marauding left back has dislocated his shoulder and is now set be sidelined for two months. His absence will be certainly felt by Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff who rate him highly. Why?Trent Alexander Arnold might edge him with freekicks, long diagonal passes and long-distance shoots on goals but defensively, Robertson is far superior. With Robertson expected to be ruled out for two months, Liverpool must now depend on Kostas Tsimikas to fill the void.
The self-proclaimed 'Greek Scouser', does possess the prerequisite skillsets to rival any left back in the world but his major challenge remains himself.
Tsimikas is sadly contented with just been Liverpool's second choice left back. Who is contented like most of Liverpool's defenders who are just contented with just playing when called upon rather than putting up a fight for places.
A known fact about football progression is 'improvements and competitions for places' which invariably makes a team better. Liverpool defensive unit lack that progression which probably the reason they've kept just one clean sheet all season and- 5 times have to come back from a goal down to win or drawn.
Tsimikas though could be the difference.
He has put up a fight to remain in the first team by first putting up a stellar performance against Everton and other matches. A goal or assist will be build his confidence and keep him in the first team contention.
Once he can deliver on a consistent basis, Jurgen Klopp will certainly give him more chance to stake a claim and put Robertson on the bench just Ibrahim Konate did to Joel Matip.
