Real Madrid demise: The three mistakes Eden Hazard made that ended his career

It's over, after a failed and awful campaign with Real Madrid, Eden Hazard has retired from football. His time at Real Madrid was marred with injuries, fitness issues and inconsistencies which sadly that forced Carlo Ancelotti to bench the Belgium captain more often than he would like.

Hazard never envisaged in his career that he would go on from been the Premier League's best player to an average bench warming player at the Santiago Bernebau. He would never have believed that Real Madrid will strip him off his confidence, force him to both physical and mental rehabilitation and finally, retire him.

But Real Madrid aren't to blame solely for Hazard's demise, the diminutive playmaker was also at fault for his own pathetic display.

Arriving overweight- Cristiano Ronaldo once said: "Talent without consistent hard work is nothing. If you don't work hard, your talent will go to waste". That statement was a warming to Hazard.

His decision to skip the hard yard and dash to Macdonald's for a quick burger affected him both physically and mentally. His added weight not only affected his explosiveness it turned him to a joke- 'the fat guy' and made Real Madrid fans question his long-term future.

Trying too hard to get back to his best- The added pressure to pay back Real Madrid's massive investment in him took a tool on his form and fitness. Hazard was desperate to trim down his weight and play on a certain spell binding level.

Normally, Hazard relied on his God given talent to play and not through a regimented training manual occasionally handed out by coaches. Coaches always dish out specific instructions on how his players should attack, press or defend against the opposition but when comes to Hazard, he just invents his own game and that wins game.

Players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohammed Salah win games with little or no instructions from their respective managers. Hazard used to be in that bracket until Real Madrid happened which crushed him.

Staying too long at Real Madrid- A season or two is all a player needs to know if he is at the right club or not. Eden Hazard saw the warning signs at Real Madrid but ignored them. His persistent injury problems should've alerted him that Real Madrid was not the right club for him and move on.

While he refused to see the signs probably due to the humongous wages, he was collecting weekly ($650.000-a-week), Real Madrid saw the signs and decided he was not worth the money and terminated his contract which forced him to an early retirement.

4 Reasons Why Kylian Mbappe must join Liverpool rather than Real Madrid

For most players, Real Madrid and Barcelona are dream clubs to play for but they're also a lot of negatives that must be taken into account before making the move.  A typical example is Eden Hazard who is arguably the greatest player in Chelsea history and one of the best players in Premier League history. It was a very bad decision to switch from Chelsea to Real Madrid and the player has clearly admitted. Hazard retired at the age of 32.  Kylian Mbappe is without doubt a super player but, he needs to understand that Liverpool offers him a better chance to reach his full potential than Real Madrid and here are the reasons why: A. The Premier League is more competitive than La Liga and Liverpool is the best place for him - Apart from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, most people don't even bother watching other Spanish teams in the La Liga except their competing in the Champions League, Europa League or the Conference League. Kylian Mbappe needs to join Liverpool a tea

One trick pony: How Manchester City star Erling Haaland can be stopped

When it comes to consistency of goals scored, no other striker delivers like Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland. The Norwegian's an extraordinary player, a poacher of goals that should be the model for future strikers.  The Norwegian star is currently the quickest player in Premier League history to score 50 league goals, shattering Andrew Cole's previous record by 17 games after scoring the opening goal in Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.  His conversion rate is bone chilling and definitely worrisome for opposition coaches who always seems confused on what must be done to stop Haaland. Stopping the 23-year-old is hard but possible.  Fact; Haaland do not score goals outside the 18-yard box. Since joining Manchester City from Borrusia Dortmund, Haaland has only managed to shoot 10 times outside the box and scored just once.  Why? He is an instinctive goal poacher whose short burst opens up space for him to shoot accurately to goal. His biggest strength is tha

A Better Nigeria: What the Government must do to end food crises

What is wrong with Nigeria and its people? A sane question most people have asked for decades but little have figured out the problems. Those who have the amicable solution and well placed in positions to truly effect change are either been rigged out, threatened or even killed.   Tragic you would say, but there's more to the complex web of Nigeria's challenges and food crises is one of them which the incumbent president must deal with immediately.  Before taking over the mantle of leadership, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a series of promises and swiftly took action by removing fuel subsidy in his first day in office. Taking that action was bold and cold because no alternative was given.  The effect was an immediate increase in fuel which resulted in an increase in the cost of transportation of both perishable and imperishable goods. Businesses which where reliant on generators for power packed up while well established businesses were forced to retrench workers or pack up.
